"your natural first choice for BSAC technical diver training"
BSAC’s Poseidon CCR Diver training is your first step into the silent world of rebreather diving. It’s a great way to learn the basics about closed-circuit rebreathers.

Poseidon CCR Diver is competent to plan and conduct CCR dives, including those with mandatory decompression, using a Poseidon rebreather. You will also be able to rescue another CCR diver from depth. If you complete the course with air as the diluent gas then you will be able to progressively build up to a maximum depth of 40 metres.

Who is this course for?
The Poseidon CCR Diver course teaches a qualified open-circuit diver to dive with a Poseidon rebreather (Mk IV, Se7en and Se7en+). You will get a thorough grounding in rebreather technology, alongside unit-specific training, and learn how to adapt your existing diving skills to a new world where you benefit from always breathing an optimum gas mix.

To enrol on the Poseidon CCR Diver course you must have successfully completed a BSAC Sports Diver course, or equivalent, with 35-metre depth certification. You also need to be an Accelerated Decompression Diver or Advanced Nitrox Diver, or have equivalent certification from another recognised training agency.

What will I Learn?
You’ll learn to safely dive a closed-circuit rebreather to a maximum of 40 metres using air diluent, including carrying out decompression and gas planning. You’ll develop your practical CCR diving techniques and get to grips with how to respond to kit failure.

The CCR Diver (40m) course includes nine theory sessions covering physics, physiology, dive conduct and potential kit problems, and two dry practical sessions on preparing and maintaining your rebreather. There is a sheltered-water training dive to introduce new skills. Then you’ll spend at least 360 minutes on a minimum of six open-water dives, to ensure that you have plenty of in-water time to practise the skills and discipline needed for CCR diving.

What will I be able to do?
A BSAC CCR Diver (40m) is competent to plan and conduct CCR dives, including those with mandatory decompression, using a Poseidon Se7en rebreather with air as the diluent gas. You will be able to progressively build up to dive to a maximum depth of 40m, which allows many people to do the majority of the diving that they want to. You will also be able to rescue another CCR diver from depth.
